Dear ,

Autumn starts tomorrow, but CBODN is already well into its fall programs and planning for our annual conference, scheduled for April 23-25, 2015 in College Park, MD. (Mark that date on your calendars today! Early-bird tickets will be going on sale soon!)

If you're looking to join in the back-to-school spirit this month, why not brush up on your OD skills by attending one of our evening programs or special interest group (SIG) meetings. There's a full list below.

Also, head to our website to meet our new Board of Directors!

Happy Reading!

PLANNING FOR THE CBODN 2015 ANNUAL CONFERENCE HAS OFFICIALLY STARTED!

Calling all Volunteers!  Planning for the CBODN 2015 Annual Conference has officially started! The topic for 2015 is Building Sustainable Communities. We have a great team started and are looking for other passionate and energetic folks who want to join the team. We are looking for volunteers to support the planning efforts on the programming, sponsorship, marketing & communications and logistics committees. The first Conference Planning team meeting was August 24. If you are interested in joining us, please reach out to Stephanie at stephscribes@gmail.com or Karen Mack at kmmc.od@gmail.com.

We are looking for all levels of involvement. Don't have much time but want to be involved in some way? Let's see if there is a micro-project you can join. Think you may have resources or contacts to support sponsorship? Just making a contact can be a great service supporting the conference. Want to grow a skill and guide a project? Believe me there are many! Just want to be a part of a fun and enriching experience that provides an opportunity to grow and serve our community? Join us!

I am excited to share that this year for the first time we will have Conference Co-Directors, Stephanie Brown, MSODKM and Karen Mack, MSOD. We both served on the conference planning team for 2014 and are excited to be a part of the conference again this year. The experience of being on the team helps to develop contacts with others in the OD community and grow or share skills that you can offer. It is a truly rewarding experience!

If you are interested in volunteering for the conference, please reach out to Stephanie Brown, stephscribes@gmail.com or 202-441-8898.  We look forward to hearing from you.

In addition to working on the Conference, CBODN is always looking for great people to help with its other programs and activities. Bob Travis is our new Director of Volunteers and will be sharing more soon on additional volunteer opportunities that will be available. If you're interested in helping in one or more of these other areas, contact him at rstravis@mindspring.com or 301-655-1073.

Learn a new technology for creating a feedback rich culture. Leadership development programs that include regular requests for feedback, can not only improve the performance of your leaders, they can also have a profound impact on one's culture. In fact, the significance of requesting feedback, which is often overlooked, can significantly increase the impact learning and development initiatives have on an organization. We will introduce a new technology that makes it fast and easy to generate feedback that can create a culture of rapid learning and improvement.

Leadership Conversations, Relationships, and Results:Talk Your Way to Success

Vinay Kumar, Coaching and Development, TEOCO Corporation

This highly-interactive session is designed to introduce participants to an entirely new way of understanding the actual drivers of relationships, team work, and results within their organizations.

By changing this one way of understanding - this one "paradigm" - entirely new avenues for effective action open up.  Participants are able to see themselves and their organizations with new eyes.  With this new perspective comes new ways of intervening and achieving breakthroughs that were literally invisible before.

Key topics include, understanding:
*    What you actually get paid to do
*    The power of language and conversations
*    Relationship between language, conversations, relationships, and results

This highly interactive session contains large and small group activities, giving participants opportunities to learn with, from, and through each other.  In addition, it will provide practical take-away's and how-to's for everyone, that will enable participants to produce more of the positive results that they desire.

Vinay Kumar coaches and educates professionals and leaders around the globe who work in the technology sector.  He is with TEOCO Corporation, which has offices in over 15 countries and serves clients in over 100 countries.  TEOCO develops and provides software solutions for the telecom space.

Vinay is a graduate of Georgetown University's Leadership Coaching program.  He also has a degree in Chemical Engineering.  His experience includes Fortune 100, US Federal Service, and owning a successful privately held business.

His roles have included business development, marketing, client services, training, and operations.  He also volunteers his time with The Mankind Project.  Vinay lives in Great Falls with his wife and 2 daughters.
