Coaching SIG: Joint CBODN-ASTD SIG

Topic: The Immunity to Change

“A recent study showed that when doctors tell heart patients they will die if they don't change their habits, only one in seven will be able to follow through successfully. Desire and motivation aren't enough: even when it's literally a matter of life or death, the ability to change remains maddeningly elusive."  (excerpt from Amazon, reviewing Immunity to Change).

Our March 1st SIG meeting will provide a firsthand opportunity to learn more about the Immunity to Change and how to deal with it.  An explanation of the model and how to apply it to your own growth, the professional growth of your individual clients, and the evolving needs of organizations will be provided.  As described in the 2009 book by Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey, the model provides coaches and OD consultants with refreshing new perspectives on how to help people and organizations get past their resistance and sustain long-term change.   During the evening session coaching applications and resources will be provided for you to use in your practices.
