Topic:  "Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age", by Sherry Turkle.

Session Description: Is in-person conversation a relic of the past? Are Facebook and Twitter and Snapchat better at fostering communication than in-person talking? Can robots do a better job of caretaking?

Reclaiming Conversation is a research-based discussion of how digital connection differs from traditional conversation and how this difference alters our relationships and society as a whole.  Author Turkle discusses how face-to-face in-person dialogue is crucial for society in multiple ways.

This book is relevant for anyone who wants and needs to connect with and influence the hearts as well as the minds of others.

Facilitator:  Ann Marie Ott is an accomplished executive coach with decades of experience enhancing leader, group, and organizational effectiveness. With each individual client, Dr. Ott blends coaching and mentoring principles to maximize leader performance and development. As a consultant she incorporates strategy, adult learning, counseling, and innovation in variety of corporate projects. These have included strategic decision facilitation in executive teams, organization structure design, and custom training design and delivery in strategic thinking. She explores a wide range of developmental, strategic, operational, and individual issues with her clients.

Ann Marie holds a research doctorate in Human Resource Development from The George Washington University, with a research focus on radical innovation leadership at both individual and organizational levels. She also holds two masters degrees, one in Management and one in Counseling from Purdue University, where she also taught for five years.  She was president of Impact Strategy Associates, Inc., for over 20 years. She has worked with executive leaders of small firms in rapid change high tech industries as well as Fortune 500 executives in industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, and medical.
