Topic: VUCA as the Imperative for Vertical Development
In an age that can be characterized as immersing us all in a regular dose of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity (VUCA), there is a compelling argument to be made for leaders to intentionally explore their behavior through the perspective of adult development theory. In this session we will generate some practical take-aways vis-à-vis how we, as coaches, might support our clients in strengthening the capacities called-for by this reality.
Presenter: Steve Heller
A PCC-credentialed member of the ICF, Steve served for many years on the Board of Directors of its Washington, DC chapter (including a term as its President). He obtained his Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University in 2005. After six years as an Adjunct Faculty member for that program, Steve served as its Program Director from January of 2015 through early 2017. He is a team member of the group that coaches TED Fellows, provides leadership coaching to Fellows at the Halcyon Incubator, and coaches graduates of Back on My Feet’s revolutionary program for supporting people from homelessness to independence.

Changes: We are changing the way we run the Coaching Community of Practice. Those who receive notice they are on the attendance list will pay $5.00 by Venmo to reserve their place. We will send instructions regarding using Venmo when you receive notice you are on the attendance list. We will not be offering refunds. We ask that cancellations be at least 48 hours in advance so we can contact those on the waiting list and give them sufficient notice to attend. If necessary, last minute cancellations are appreciated so we can do the appropriate room set-up.
In order to balance who attends we delay notifying those on the attendance list for up to a week to include those who have not attended recently. We also encourage new members to attend. We apologize if you do not get on the attendance list each month and hope you understand that we want to include more members, not only those who responded quickly. We limit our sessions to 30 attendees as we sit in a circle to encourage full participation. From now on those who are 'no-shows' or last minute cancellations will be placed on the waiting list for future meetings until we have openings. RSVP only if you want to attend, no need to send 'regrets.'
Please let us know if you are a new member or have not attended the last three or more sessions. We are very grateful for your interest and support.
