OD Book SIG

Event Title: Drawing on Shintaido, “the new body way”, to forward change: How organizational change practitioners can use Shintaido for themselves and apply it in change work.
Program:

In this interactive program, we will experience Shintaido, literally translated from the Japanese as "the new body way," a form of martial arts originating from Japan that focuses on physical and spiritual well-being and unspoken communication with others. Instructor Lee Ordeman will lead us in some exercises and then Judy Tso will facilitate a discussion of how this form can be applied to change work including discussing how Shintaido can help practitioners be grounded, an essential state of being when we are facilitators of change.

Facilitators:     Lee Ordeman and Judy Tso
Lee Ordeman, has practiced Shintaido since the mid-1980s. He qualified as an instructor and taught in Japan for eight years before returning to the United States and embarking on an acting career. Since then he has taught Shintaido in the Washington area and Europe while adapting it for movement training for actors and dancers. He has also worked as a newspaper journalist and school teacher.
Judy Tso is an Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton and a Certified Master Facilitator, certified coach, trainer and organizational development consultant. She supports government agencies with change management, strategic planning and communications.
