Session—"Using Modes to Manage the Known and Engage the Unknown" The power of modes! We live and operate in an ever-changing flux of modes, modes of being and operating. When unaware of the influence of modes on their approach, leaders can become unintentionally biased, slow to change, or even stuck in a rut as their apparent options narrow. This narrowing then limits team, project, and organizational performance. However, when aware of modal influence, leaders can wisely set and readjust course, freeing up team and organizational energy for greater achievement. In this conceptual and tactical session, we explore ten modes and apply them to a currently relevant workplace situation from the OD and coaching angles. The end goal: assimilate a leadership tool that helps you and your clients be more nimble, open to growth, and successful, as they create and manage change. We’ll review the modes, assess and address an example workplace situation in coaching and OD subgroups, then regroup to synthesize and apply our learnings. Apart from refreshing and enhancing your diagnostics and treatment of individual and organizational challenges, this workshop also opens a window to a new way of addressing personal challenges whenever life gets overwhelming, sluggish, or in any way out of balance.
