About the Role

The Communications Chair is a key role to the success of the events and programs hosted through CBODN. As a member of the CBODN Board leadership team, the Communications Chair works closely with the Board to keep membership informed of upcoming evening programs, Communities of Practice gatherings, and other CBODN events. Dissemination of relevant professional information beneficial to our members are communicated via our newsletter, the Communique, the website, and social media outlets. Familiarity with email marketing systems (MailChimp), social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.), and graphics and layouts, are desired for this role.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The monthly newsletter - drafting, editing, submitting for peer review

  • Maintain social media accounts

  • Posting information to social media outlets

  • Provide backup support to webmaster

  • Strategize, develop, maintain, and execute communications plan

Board Member Requirements

Board Members are not required to be employed in the field of Organization Development; roles may require skills, talents and perspectives outside the field of OD. However, current membership with CBODN is required to serve on the Board.

The Board of Directors of CBODN is comprised of passionate volunteers dedicated to building community and working together to implement the vision and goals of the Network. The Board is responsible for carrying forth the 30 year history and legacy of CBODN, while seeking to continually build cohesion and foster knowledge sharing within the community.

Each Board seeks to build on the successes of previous Boards in developing CBODN as the central hub of our DC Metro area OD community. We do this by providing members with current online resources as well as programs and events from which to engage with one another, develop knowledge and skills, share expertise and talent, and contribute to our rich and wonderful community.

Chesapeake Bay Organization Development Network (CBODN) is the premier DC Metro area network for organization development (OD) practitioners. Founded in Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, our name pays homage to those elders who made vital contributions to the field of OD.
