New OD Practitioners CoP

Topic: Design Thinking

Facilitator: Carol Hamilton
Design Thinking is a human-centered and systematic approach to problem solving and innovation.  By focusing on empathy and iteration, the design thinking process helps you create solutions that are grounded in the experience of your stakeholders and informed by their feedback through a co-creation process.  This approach has many parallels to the action research cycle.
In the session you will learn what design thinking is and how it is applicable to organization development challenges.  You will also practice using a couple of design thinking tools.

Carol Hamilton leads NAFSA, the Association of International Educators’ new program and service development efforts using a design thinking approach, a collaborative innovation process.  Previously she led the Association’s learning services department that managed many of NAFSA’s professional development programs.  She has worked in the association and nonprofit sector for more than 20 years with education and social change organizations. Carol graduated from Swarthmore College and she recently completed her Masters in Organization Development from American University.
