OD Book Discussion SIG: Joint CBODN/ASTD SIG

Topic:  Path for Greatness: Spirituality at Work by Linda Ferguson
Facilitated by author, Linda Ferguson: ljfergusonphd@gmail.com

Employee engagement is a hot topic in the OD, Learning and Performance, and Coaching fields.  Yet keeping people engaged can be challenging, especially as people are expected to do more with less.  When you align your gifts, purpose and passion you not only feel more engaged and energized, but you bring your authentic self and full talents into the work you do.  In Dr. Linda Ferguson’s book, Path for Greatness, she provides a framework for aligning gifts, passion and purpose to offer work as spiritual service.

As OD practitioners we frequently facilitate how companies see themselves.  With the sputtering economy and uncertain future, it’s too easy for corporate leaders to retrench and operate out of fear.  Now is the time more than ever for companies to shift from command and control, fear- based thinking to a collaboration, interdependence, and inspiration mindset.  Linda will provide an outline from her book of the characteristics of Higher Consciousness Organizations.  This new model for organizations in the 21st century moves organizations past their fears to greater effectiveness.

Come for a lively discussion and new insights for working with your gifts, passion and purpose to serve a new model of organizations.

If you are not a Booz Allen employee, please arrive in the main lobby about 10 minutes early to check in (and don’t forget a government issued ID such as a driver’s license).

Parking is available in front of the building in the visitor parking lot. Coffee will be provided.

SIG Description:

The OD SIG is built around the idea of an executive book summary.  Each month a volunteer presenter introduces and helps us understand the key ideas from a recently-published book whose topic is relevant to Organization Development practitioners.  It is not necessary to have read the book to participate; attendees are encouraged to join in the discussion based on personal experience.

Mission:  Network with other OD professionals and stay current on the latest trends, concepts and models.

Who would benefit from attending:  Any OD professional. Our group consists of experienced and new professionals as well as internal and external consultants.

Cancellation Policy: If you need to cancel your reservation for this event, please contact the SIG leader Linda Ferguson to notify them of that change.
