Topic: The Role of Our Bodies in Our OD and Coaching Work

Description: Learning to listen to our bodies — “soma” — is a key skill for coaches and OD professionals that must be constantly honed.  Accessing our internal awareness can enhance our observations and expand the options that are available us and to our OD and coaching clients. Despite the fact that our body-mind makes up 90-95% of our whole mind, our thinking minds’ chatter often drowns out this expansive store of wisdom and experience.  Yet soma is always present and waits patiently for us to listen to its messages.

In this session, we’ll learn how to tap into this quiet wisdom and experience. We’ll experience the benefits of listening to our inner-self, and discuss how to integrate our somatic experiences with our thinking minds. The session begins with clarification of what soma is and its value to coaching and OD work. With this grounding we'll learn a simple way to access soma. We’ll end with a discussion of ways to incorporate this into our work.
