Topic: What Is “Gestalt” and How Might It Advance Your OD Practice?
Description: Gestalt was born around the same time as Organization Development (maybe slightly before). It is a German word that roughly translated to English means “shape” or “placed” or “pattern” or “whole”. Although Gestalt is typically known as a therapy practice, it has more recently been practiced and expanded within organizational contexts. John Hovell, the presenter, is privileged to becoming accredited in Relational Organizational Gestalt through the European Association for Gestalt Therapy. He’s excited to share his most recent learnings, and engage in conversation to learn together. He will host an interactive session so you can learn a bit about Gestalt, discuss it, and dive into some real-time practice of it! Come see what you think, feel and sense?
Takeaways:
By actively participating in these 90 minutes, we (you and we individually and collectively) have an opportunity to:
- Expand understanding of Gestalt, especially the “Gestalt cycle of experience.”
- Immediately apply the practical tools of “Self, Other, Situation”, and 9 “modifications to contact” to potentially deepen contact with self and others with your OD work.
- Experience and embody Gestalt through a visual, non-verbal conversation with a partner.
