Program:
Based on Judy’s recent original research with a colleague, this session will explore how some individuals attract powerful informal mentoring support from accomplished people. After reflecting on our own experiences, we will discuss the findings from 24 interviews and the Model of Seven Strategies that resulted from the analysis. We will explore the unique attitudes, beliefs and behaviors that led to growth and advancement for the mentees and the long-term relationships between mentor and mentee that often resulted. Further, we will discuss applications to our work with individual clients and their organizations and consider possible implications for working with identity groups.

Access will be provided to an electronic copy of the resulting article – “Attracting Great Mentors: Seven Strategies to Cultivate” -- that was published in July, 2011 in the OD Practitioner.
