Program Description: Use of Self: Leading Resiliently in an Uncertain World

You are your own instrument of change; this session presents an original model and self-assessment to provide insight into how you show up in the world and to maximize your ability to lead and facilitate resiliently in an uncertain world.

How would you describe your boundaries, as easy or difficult to penetrate? Your openness to new ideas?  Your assertiveness?  Your willingness to be influenced?  Your skills as a communicator?  Your level of confidence as an intervener or as a leader?  These are among the choices in how we show up as leaders and facilitators in our own lives, and as agents of change in the world where we interact with others and effect change.  This session will provide an original model for the use of self, encourage you to assess yourself against the model, and then to set goals for yourself, your practice, and for how you want to show up and be effective in an uncertain world.  The session will be highly participative, with a self assessment, formation of learning pairs, discussion of actions to strengthen the way we use ourselves in a more resilient manner especially in difficult and turbulent times, and how we might present and use ourselves in a better, more effective manner.  The session will end with an action planning rubric designed to help participants set their own personal goals and plan for implementation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Inspire and empower the participants to recognize and maximize the intrinsic power they have as change agents.
  2. Provide an original model and framework with which participants can assess themselves against the many variables in the use of self as leaders and as agents of change.
  3. Develop an action plan for improving the use of self and acting with resilience in a changing world.
