Event Title: Intelligent Disobedience: Doing Right When What You’re Told to Do Is Wrong by Ira Chaleff
Intelligent Disobedience looks at the family, educational and organizational systems designed to instill a sense of obedience rather than a sense of accountability. From the moment we first set foot in school we are taught that teachers must be obeyed and resisting authority has negative consequences. Then how can we, as adults working in organizations, intelligently disobey rules that are harmful to the organization when being compliant is so ingrained in us? And how do you do it? This book, Intelligent Disobedience: Doing Right When What You’re Told to Do Is Wrong looks at the way guide dogs are taught to intelligently disobey and how we can apply these lessons when following orders does more harm than good.
