Book Club

Treat yourself to a good book and thought-provoking discussion this Spring & Summer! After launching a CBODN Summer Book Club in 2023, we are thrilled to return this year and join members and guests in an hour of facilitated discussion. Our time together will center around the themes presented in each selected book that matter to you as an OD practitioner. This monthly gathering is geared towards members and guests interested in a peer-supported & enhanced reading experience that offers new perspectives and personal development. Join us as we connect with fellow OD practitioners in a positive, supportive environment while promoting a love for reading and continuous learning.

This Book Club also offers a great opportunity for members who are looking to practice or improve their facilitation skills, by co-facilitating alongside our recurring CBODN host. If you are interested in helping to facilitate a session and/or have a book selection suggestion, please reach out to Rachel Green for more information.

Book Selections:

On May 10th, we will be reading An Everyone Culture: Becoming a Deliberately Developmental Organization by Robert Keegan and Lisa Lahey.  Keegan and Lahey take readers through the design principles, concrete practices, and underlying science at the heart of Deliberately Developmental Organizations (DDO's), from their disciplined approach to giving feedback, to how they use meetings, to the distinctive way that managers and leaders define their roles.

This book show readers how to build this developmental culture in their own organizations and demonstrates a whole new way of being at work. It suggests that the culture you create is your strategy and that the key to success is developing everyone. A fascinating read!

Don't have time to read the whole book? That's okay! You are encouraged to attend whether you've read the whole thing, a few chapters, or even just the back cover. During the session we will provide the opportunity for peers to share their recap from the book and for all to explore their insights and learnings more deeply.

For future Book Club suggestions, or to appear as a guest facilitator, please respond to our interest form.
